Tourism Master Plan 2009-2014

 
     
 

In 2008 the Ministry of Tourism initiated the process of developing Five-year Tourism Development Plan of the Sabaragamuwa Province with the technical assistance from the Department of Tourism Management, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. The provincial tourism policy was drafted and the strategies for the development and promotion were recognized during this planning process. The implementation was started in 2009 as stipulated once the Final Report (including the action plan for the same planning period) has been endorsed by the provincial political leadership

 
     
     
 

Padavigampola Homestay

 
     
 

This is one of the projects of Sabaragamuwa Homestay Programme that represents Kegalle District. With its hypnotizing scenic beauty, Padawigampola home stay adds up yet another excitement to the wide range of tourism components currently available in Sri Lanka.  The project development has been completed and it is ready for its operations.

 
     
     
 

World Tourism Day Celebrations – 2011

 
     
 

In order to celebrate World Tourism Day – 2011, the Ministry of Tourism successfully launch several programmes. A photographic and art competition was organised this year.

 
     
     
 

Area Tour Guide Training

 
     
 

More than 30 youths from the Province were selected for this training. The training has been provided by Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority.

 
     
     
 

“Sundara Sabaragamuwa”  - a publication on tourist attractions

 
     
 

The Ministry of Tourism launched the publication “Sundara Sabaragamuwa” – a book on tourist attractions of the Province.  This book provides descriptions of those popular and lesser-known actractions.
